Main Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups apple cider
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp apple pie spice
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Topping Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp apple pie spice
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
Directions:
-
Reduce the apple cider - simmer in a small saucepan until you only have 1/2 cup
left. Start checking at 10 minutes, then every 5. Typically takes about 20 minutes.
Let cool for 10 minutes.
-
Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and salt
together in a large bowl.
-
Whisk the melted butter, egg, brown sugar, granulated sugar, milk, and vanilla
extract together. Combine with the dry ingredients, add the reduced apple cider,
and whisk everything together.
-
Pour batter into donut cavities and bake for 10-11 minutes at 350 degrees.
The donuts are ready to take out of the oven if they push back upon touch. Let
them cool for 2 minutes before removing from donut pan.
-
Combine granulated sugar, cinnamon, and applie pie spice together in a bowl.
Dunk both sides of each donut in melted butter, then roll around in the apple
spice topping.
